On behalf of Westcountry Schools Trust, we’re pleased to welcome nominations for our Elected Parent / Carer Members to the WeST Community Council 4 (WeST CC).
The WeST CC helps make sure every school in Westcountry Schools Trust listens to families and puts children first. Your Parent Member is there to bring your voice into school decisions and to make sure local priorities are reflected in what the school and Trust do.
What the Parent Member does (for you and your child)
Represents parents and carers in governance discussions so everyday family perspectives are heard.
Improves communication between the school, local governance and the Trust — sharing information clearly and feeding back what matters to you.
Shares local insight, ensuring decisions reflect our community’s needs and lived experiences.
Champions safeguarding and inclusion, keeping children’s safety, wellbeing and SEND needs front and centre.
Why this matters
A strong parent voice helps shape a school where every child can thrive.
Governance that supports, challenges and champions the school leads to higher standards and better outcomes.
You’ll have clear routes to raise ideas and concerns and know they’re represented.

Eligibility: No special qualifications needed. You must be a parent/carer of a child on roll when nominations close. (Parents employed at the school for 500+ hours per academic year or elected Local Authority members can’t stand.)
If more nominations are received than vacancies a ballot process will take place and further information will follow.
The deadline for nominations is the 3rd February 2026.
