Theme: “Power for Good”

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week, our school has joined thousands of others across the country in marking Anti-Bullying Week, an important opportunity to reinforce our shared commitment to kindness, respect, and the wellbeing of every student in our community.

This year’s theme, “Power for Good,” reminds us all that every young person has the ability to make a positive difference in someone’s life — to stand up for others, to speak out against unkind behaviour, and to use their influence to create a safe and supportive environment.

What’s Been Happening in School

• Whole-School Assemblies:

Students have taken part in assemblies exploring what bullying looks like, its impact on individuals, and how we can all use our “power for good” to challenge it. Pupils reflected on real-life stories and discussed the small acts that can make a big difference — from including someone at breaktime to reporting concerns to a trusted adult.

• Tutor Time Activities:

During a tutor session, students have explored scenarios about bullying. They were encouraged to think critically about how words and actions can affect others, and understanding the various roles others can have in incidents of bullying or other unkind behaviour

Why Anti-Bullying Week Matters

Bullying can affect anyone, at any age, and in any setting — including online. By dedicating time to open discussion, we aim to:

• Empower students to speak up if they witness or experience bullying.

• Promote empathy, understanding, and inclusion.

• Strengthen the message that kindness is everyone’s responsibility.

As part of our ongoing safeguarding work, we want every student to know that our school is a safe place where concerns are listened to and taken seriously.

How Parents and Carers Can Support

You play a crucial role in reinforcing these messages at home. Here are some ways you can help:

• Talk regularly with your child about their friendships and online life.

• Listen without judgment if they share concerns — even small issues can feel big to them.

• Encourage kindness and model it through your own actions.

• Report concerns: If you suspect bullying, please contact your child’s Head of Year or our Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Together, we can ensure that every student feels safe, valued, and confident to use their Power for Good.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us make our school a kind, respectful, and inclusive community for all.
