Firstly, I want to start by congratulating our Sport, Engineering, Health and Social Care and Business students in the Sixth Form who all received unit results recently. Well done – hard work really does pay off!
It was also a pleasure to welcome Year 11 students and their families into College last Thursday for the Year 11 Exam Preparation evening. Over 70% of our families attended this important information evening which focussed on ensuring that everyone is fully updated and informed how to get the most out of the final run up to the main event of the summer exams. This included what parents and carers can do at home to support, what students should be focussing on, and what support is on offer at school. Of course, there was also key information about the mid-way BBQ and end of exam celebrations too!! We look forward to welcoming students in over the Easter break for specific revision sessions and study mornings: students – don’t forget to sign up!!
This week, we look forward to the school show, Matilda Jr. Students and staff have been working extremely hard on the production and we look forward seeing the performances next week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Tickets are still available via Ticketsource for any families or friends who would like to attend.
With one school week to go until Easter we have been delighted to see our attendance figures at school well above where they were this time last year. We know the impact that missing school has on student progress in school, and we thank all parents and carers for their continued support in helping their children to attend school as much as possible.
One more week for students to gain Golden Tickets in school. These are issued by staff to students who are doing something remarkable, both in and out of lessons, and for Weekly 100% attendance. Students can then enter their ticket into a Prize Raffle of their choice. The raffles will take place on the last day of term, with attendance Golden Tickets being issued right up until the final day. Its great to see students proudly with their Golden Tickets and hear the wide variety of reasons as to why they have been issued. Deciding which raffle box to go for is proving a tricky decision for some!! Talking of doing amazing things, a huge well done to Aneya B in Year 7 who has just had some brilliant success in Diving in the Southwest qualifying skills event – a first place result and Southwest Champion! We love to hear about student success outside of school and encourage all parents, carers and students to keep us updated.
We have actually had three rounds of Student of the Week since the last post. It’s such a highlight of the week for me to meet these students and share their successes collectively the group of Students of the Week:
Deserved recipients of Student of the Week, we have:
Year 7: Shiloh G, Jack L, Tate T
Year 8: Jack S, Flynn S, Sienna D
Year 9: Grace C, Ethan B, Sumaitha J
Year 10: Holly-Beth O, Thomas L, Isla OC
Year 11: Alex H, Claire Marie B, Macey J
Sixth Form: Owen H, Layla P, Robert B
For our weekly Sparx Maths homework rewards, last week we mixed it up, celebrating the most improved Tutor groups in terms of completion rates: 10JQS, 9MHW, 8ACP, 7RLO. This week we celebrated the top completion rates in each year group, with the Heroes going to 10STW, 9MHW, 8MEJ and 7HMG. Fab work, teams!
We are looking forward to a great final week in College before the Easter break.
