On Thursday, a group of year 7 and 8 students (listed below) took part in some action research in collaboration with The Box and The University of Plymouth.
This was a learning opportunity which is feeding in to Science lessons and also Science Club, of which, many of the attendees are keen members.
We were taught about some of the causes and effects of climate change, and students impressed our hosts with their knowledge, enthusiasm and eloquence.
They came up with some ideas, then put those ideas to work; designing campaigns and gadgets to solve some of our climate problems. Ranging from thoughtful, to persuasive, to hilarious, student’s input was impressive and what they took away was poignant. One of the hypotheses of the research involved the emotions around the climate crisis and students came away with optimism and empowerment about their futures.
