Future Friday Events

This week was National Careers Week and Tuesday was International Women’s Day so all our speakers this week have been women, demonstrating the diverse roles available to females, but offering inspiration to all our students.


Year 7

Ex-student Kirsten Dolton returned to share her career journey from Eggbuckland student to primary school teacher. She spoke about the importance of working hard, participating in extra-curricular activities, and making the most of opportunities that are presented to students.









Year 8 and 9

Years 8 and 9 enjoyed a virtual STEM presentation from Civil Engineer Jessica Williams from Stantec. Jessica shared her career journey, reinforcing the importance of Science, Technology and Maths (STEM) qualifications that can lead to a huge rang of job opportunities. There is a skills shortage in the STEM area with lots of progression for students now and in the future.












Year 10

Jane Ford, Community Liaison Manager from MVV Environment Devonport, and another ex-student, Coral Bailey, who is completing an internship with MVV, spoke about the work MVV do within the city and globally, the importance of the green sector and the job roles available within this industry.
