On Tuesday, a range of Healthcare professionals from across the NHS University Hospitals Plymouth, Livewell & St Lukes Hospice, visited school for a Healthcare Careers Carousel. Health & Social Care students in Year 11 & 12 had prepared questions beforehand, they then met “speed-dating” style with each of the professions in small groups for a maximum of 10 minutes to gather information about their job roles and career pathways.
The visitors included a physiotherapist, social workers, counsellor, operating theatre staff, nurses, occupational therapist, finance manager, recruitment and the clinical apprenticeship coordinator.
Students all felt they had taken away something positive from the event as well as being better informed about the range of opportunities available within the NHS.
A huge thank you to the employers who gave their time to support our students. Also full credit to the students who conducted themselves very well throughout the event and were a credit to the college.
