Year 8 Marjon Scholars Programme
During half term week, some of our year 8 students took part in the Marjon Scholars Programme. This programme, delivered across four days, is designed to support attainment-raising in English whilst also introducing participants to higher education via fun and interactive activities. The programme was delivered by the Marjon Outreach team, lecturers, trainee teachers and Student Ambassadors.
Some of the activities during the week included creative poetry, various sports, speech and language therapy, including how to make lemonade thicker for elderly patients. Students “graduated” at the end of the week. Phoebe, Year 8, commented that she had had a great week and really enjoyed it. She particularly liked looking at the facilities and student village. Louise P said that it had been really good fun, and that she’d been impressed with the sports facilities, and Emily N said that it had made her really consider going to university. All the students were glad that they had had the opportunity and we are grateful to Plymouth Marjon University for putting this on.
