Year 7 Football

With almost 30 boys attending football every week this year, a small group got the chance to represent Eggbuckland this week. Starting with a 4-0 win against Lipson and following it up with a 1-0 win against Coombe Dean we got off to a great start. Next up was Plympton Academy who had also won their first two matches. An entertaining nil-nil draw, where we had a number of good chances but just didn’t finish them, left us frustrated. Our penultimate match was against St Boniface’s where the goals continued to flow with a 5-0 victory.

In the final round of matches we were still identical with Plympton Academy having won 3 and drawn against each other. Our goal difference was +10 and theirs was +5. A win against DHS would mean we would win the event overall. After two 7-minute halves and chance after chance where we should have been leading by 3 or 4 goals, the game finished 0-0. Plympton Academy won their game meaning they claimed first place.

We were the only school not to concede any goals and we can’t wait for the National Cups in September to start again to see how far this talented group of boys could go.
