Weekly round-up from the Principal!

We are nearing the end of a busy term at Eggbuckland Community College.  And what a way to finish the week off with the wonderful Christmas Fayre last night.  Thank you to all parents and carers who came to join the fun, and to our amazing students and staff who worked so hard to put in such a brilliant event.  Festivities all round!

Year 11 also received their mock exams results this week.  The Exams and Year team replicated the Summer exams results day as far as possible so that the students could see and feel what this would be like.  We have seen many fantastic results and huge progress made by our students since their Year 10 mocks – they can now see what is possible with hard work every day.  Congratulations Year 11.  Now to maintain the momentum and get organised with regular revision and practise - especially on any key areas identified in the mocks.

We have also seen some fabulous sporting success this week for our U15 Elite Football Cup with a win against Ivybridge, a team who have been our nemesis for a number of years. The team are now off to the Quarter Final.  Well done!

You will have received communication today regarding our end of term plans.  We end with a tutor event on Tuesday and look forward to welcoming students into school with a festive item to enhance their usual school uniform, such as a Christmas jumper of Christmas hat if they wish.

It is with pleasure that I announce of our final Students of the Week of 2023:  Noah F, Ava B, Ethan G, Brandon T, Freja W, Kelan T and Corey M.  Well done to you all for taking the final spots of the year!

Any finally, whilst I will be writing more formally next week, I want to thank all students, staff and parents and carers for the warm welcome I have had to the College since September. Well done to our students for rising to our high expectations, and for demonstrating every day, that everyone can….
