Weekly round-up from the Principal!

Welcome back after what I hope was an enjoyable Easter break.

The students have returned full of enthusiasm and vigour for the Summer term and we have been proud of the way they have transitioned back to College life: systems, routines and most importantly, learning!

Before the break, Year 8 students were working hard in English lessons writing speeches; this has led to the Inaugural Eggbuckland Public Speaking event, TEDEggs, which took place on Thursday.  Well done to all students who performed their individual speeches in front of their entire Year Group.  The warmth, support and appreciation shown by Year 8 was amazing, and demonstrated the Year Group living out our core values.  Mr Cooper will be announcing the winners and celebrating all participants in due course.

Our Year 12 Environmental Scientists also started their fieldwork this week and Year 11 Geographers managed to brave the weather just before the Easter break to complete field work in Plymouth City Centre.  Our Year 10 Hospitality and Catering students begun some immersive extended sessions this week, where they have the chance to learn high level skills including jointing a Chicken and filleting a Fish!

Congratulations to our Students of the Week from this week, and some delayed announcements from before the Easter break:

Year 8: Leon D,

Year 9: Faith C

Year 10: Maddie F, Lily M

Year 11: Jasmine L

Year 12: Caitlin R

Faith C has also been awarded the Clean Our Patch award for ‘Teen Litter Picker of the Year’ for the voluntary work she has been doing for her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.  This is an excellent achievement and deserved recognition for all of her hard work.  Well done, Faith.  It was lovely to hear you tell me about this today.
