TICK Value of the Week

Two of our values spring to mind when we think about our students this week, and that is tenacity and compassion.

GCSE exams are now in full swing and we are blown away by the maturity shown by our Year 11 students and their determined approach to their revision. We are running additional subject sessions in the afternoons before exams and first thing in the morning, and library has been (and will continue to be during exam season) open until 5pm every day for personal revision. Year 11 have really made the most of these opportunities, showing their tenacious desire to succeed. Keep going, Year 11 – this is what all your hard work has been for!

This week has also been about Deaf awareness. Students in years 7-10 have had assemblies delivered by our expert Hearing Support team and follow up sessions in tutor time, all centred around raising awareness about deafness and the deaf identity. This is about compassion because we discussed some of the barriers a deaf person may experience in everyday life, how we can be aware of those and help a deaf person. As usual, our students showed empathy and kindness in these sessions that we know they will take with them into their lives outside of College.
