The Sixth Form visit the British Art Show 9
The Art department were thrilled to be able to take 6th form Fine Art and Photography students to The Box this week to see British Art Show 9. The touring exhibition from The Hayward in London showcases contemporary Art from British artists and although at first glance there was a lot of work that seemed strange, with the help of Adam Murray (Art Education Learning officer) and exhibition volunteer Mo, the students had exciting conversations about ethics, migration and making.
The emotion that some of the work evokes with reference to families, refugees, social media and Covid-19 are so raw that it is hard to not be impacted by this exhibition. As 6th form students reflect on this work and are influenced by the contemporary practitioners it leads to question – what will come next?
