The Year 7 and 8 Girls’ Football team have had a fantastic start to the football season. They have started their journey in the 9-a-side National Cup, previously beating Callington away and Tavistock at home, we now go forward into Round 3 where we meet Great Torrington. We are in discussion about the date but when confirmed please come and support the girls.

On Wednesday, the girls attended the EFL Girls’ Cup hosted by Plymouth Argyle at Manadon Sports Hub. The competition saw 12 different teams compete through a group stage and onto semi-finals and finals. The girls went through to three semi-finals after beating teams in the group stages without conceding a goal and having 37 goals for them. In the semi-finals, the girls managed to win all three matches with some outstanding play. The final saw some competitive play and also the first goal scored against us. The girls played through the wet and cold and dug in to go on to win 3-1. The girls lifted the trophy and look forward to the next round of regional finals which will be hosted in either Bristol, Swindon or Reading.

Girls football training is open to all year groups on a Wednesday after school.
