The Football girls are at it again!
Our final 3 National Cup teams have had a phenomenal week and Eggbuckland now have 3 teams into national quarter finals! The draw for the quarter finals is on Monday February 6th, shown live on the ESFA You Tube channel from 5pm.
Year 7
The girls played Kennet School (Newbury) at home last Monday 23rd January. The girls played a hard fought match against a strong team. Kennet school came out hard scoring first and putting the girls on the back foot, but we fought back with a final score of 3-2 putting Eggbuckland into the quarter finals of the National Cup.
Year 9/10
The Year 9 and 10 girls travelled to Chippenham to play Hardenhuish School on Tuesday 24th January. It was clear to see from the start that our girls had the ability and confidence to win this game, but with a sleepy start after our long drive we allowed them an early goal. However, this encouraged the girls forward and we quickly equalised. Exposing Hardenhuish’s weaknesses’ and working to our strengths we soon slotted away a few more before half time and finished the game holding the score at 4-1. The girls are into the quarter finals of the National Cup.
Year 10/11
The Year 10 and 11 girls met Hayesfield Girls Grammar School who travelled from Bath to play on Wednesday 25th January. Hayesfield looked up and ready for the game but our girls were ready and full of confidence. The girls started strong, played great football and won an early corner. Corners being an area of well worked strength, a goal soon came from a great deliver from Roxy and finish by Taya; 1-0. As play continued, a well worked ball came through to Mia who coolly slotted it away; 2-0. Half time. Although the girls played good football suddenly we found ourselves at 2-2 with just 10 minutes to play. With 4 minutes to go Taya scored the winner taking the final score to 3-2 and the team into the quarter finals of the National Cup!
