SPORTS ACADEMY 2020

Welcome to the Sports Academy class of 2020!

Well done to the students who have been successful with their application into this year’s Sports Academy. It was a very different process this year with applications done and, for the first time, being able to have a full girls’ football team to be added to the line-up.

We had a number of fantastic applications handed in and many successful candidates, but, as ever, there were some students who didn’t make it this time. However, this does not mean the door is closed permanently. We encourage students to prove us wrong! Boys’ football training is still open to all Year 8 and 10s on a Tuesday after school, Year 9s Thursday lunch time and Year 7s Thursday after school. Girls’ football is on a Wednesday after school. You don’t have to be part of the academy to get involved, it may even lead to you being invited to join your year group sports academy.

We have been allocated a few more spaces for Year 8 and replies to applications will be given to students before the half term.

Upcoming Fixtures

The 7/8 and 8/9 girls start off on their national cup conquest in the next few weeks with games to be arranged against Ivybridge and Callington.

Boys start their national cup fixtures within the next month with Year 7 vs St Boniface’s, Year 8 vs Torquay Academy, Year 9 vs St Boniface’s, Year 10- BYE, Year 11 vs Ivybridge. Good luck to all!
