Safeguarding at the College is always our priority and there are some incidents which occur where we also require your help as parents and carers, and this is one such case. We have had it reported to us that there is an Instagram account called @vikamar2002 which we believe some of our students are following or being followed by.
There has been a reported incident where this account has requested inappropriate images from a student in the College. The police have been informed and the account has been reported to Instagram, however we feel strongly that as parents you need to be aware so you safeguard your child.
If your child is under the age of 13 they should not have an Instagram account, so I am aware that this will not apply to all of our young people. If your child however is over the age of 13 and is using Instagram, then I would urge you to check their accounts to make sure they are not putting themselves at risk.
If you have any concerns regarding this information then please do not hesitate to contact the safeguarding team at the College either via email on firstname.lastname@example.org , or by making an appointment through reception on 01752 790061. If your concerns are immediate then you can contact the police using their 101 service.
