National Cup Quarter final thriller!
The Year 7 and 8 girls’ football team have undoubtedly been exceptional this football season, making it to the top 8 teams in the country! Having travelled to Bournemouth in the last round it was nice to have a home game to play on Thursday. Playing at Manadon Sports Hub with a great crowd the girls got the game underway. With not much between the two team we could tell that this was going to be a hard fight to the end. Half time ended at 2-1 to our Oxford opponents.
Knowing that we have made come backs in previous games, our heads remained high and we went into the second half positive. By the last minute of the game, we were 4-3 behind and our last shot at goal, the last kick of the match, was held by their keeper. This was a great disappointment for the girls but what a game!
This Friday the Year 7 only team face their round 5 National Cup game in Bristol. A win in this round will mean the girls go into the top 16 in the country.
The Year 7/8 combined 6-a-side team go on and play in Swindon on Monday representing Eggbuckland and Plymouth Argyle in the regional finals. A win in this one will see the final being played at Wembley stadium!
