A House Without Mirrors - Marten Sanden
Eleven-year-old Thomasine lives in a large, old house with her relatives and her dying great-aunt Henrietta. She is left alone with her cousins to keep her company, but everyone in the house is struggling with something.
During a game of hide-and-seek, the children discover a wardrobe where all the mirrors in the house have been hidden. They step inside and are transported to another time in what is a mirror image of the same house. It is in this world that they meet Hetty - and each discover something that they need back in their own world.
This is a beautifully written book about a family trying to overcome difficulties. The illustrations by Moa Schulman add depth to this poignant and (at times) creepy story.
Perfect for our Year 7s and 8s who enjoyed our study of the gothic at the start of the year!
