Futures Friday

This week our Year 10 students heard from representatives from the South West Women in Construction group about the wealth of opportunities available within the construction sector. Kerry Lane from Midas & Emma Jarvis from Service Design Solution talked about their career pathways and the amazing projects they have been involved in. With 180 job roles available within construction there really is something for everyone. As construction is a growth area in Plymouth, students are encouraged to see the potential of this career pathway with lots of different routes available to young people of all abilities. As an adopted school with Building Plymouth, Eggbuckland are proud to maintain and build links with the industry and we are now starting to see students progress into this sector.

Year 11 students received a presentation from the early careers team at Babcock on interview techniques. All Year 11 students will be completing an interview with a local employer after half term, we hope the support they have received via the tutor programme and their P4L lessons will have prepared them well for this worthwhile experience. The deadline for students to submit their CVs and supporting information is today, we urge all students to complete this, the mock interview is an ideal opportunity for students to showcase themselves in front of a local employer who they may well wish to work for in the future. Be the best you can be and remembered for all the right reasons, good luck! 😊
