Football Focus

Leadership in Girls’ Football:

This week, three of our female footballers took part in a leadership opportunity exploring how to market girls’ football to a wider audience. They focussed on encouraging girls into the sport but also on promoting football in a way that helps to develop the whole individual with life skills that are needed to be successful. These girls did a fantastic job and we look forward to the impact that they can all make.

Year 7 and 8 Football Success!

This week has seen our Year 7 and 8 combined girls’ team play Ivybridge and our Year 7 only team play Looe Community Academy. The Year 7/8 team faced our toughest competitors yet in Ivybridge. They were a strong well drilled unit that played the ball around calmly and accurately however, our girls were able to intercept and put hard tackles in to win the ball back and create our own brilliant play which saw Eggbuckland emerge as 1-0 winners. The combined Year 7 and 8 team now enter the last 32 teams in the country and face Hugh Sexeys CoE Middle School in an away match. Well done girls, let’s keep it going!

The Year 7 only girls faced Looe Community Academy at home. This was the first time that the girls have played as one unit and they really settled into the game well. The Year 7s now face Liskeard at home in their next game.

All at Eggbuckland are proud of your sportsmanship, physical ability and your complete dedication to playing.
