Advice for parents/carers of students who have Special Educational Needs

This advice is for parents/carers of children who are accessing their learning from home.

Teachers will set work designed to be both challenging and accessible to as broad a range of students as possible. This can accessed through our website and through direct contact with teachers via email.

In class, a teacher or TA will recognise a student having difficulty and adapt the work promptly. Whilst working at home, we will rely on families to let us know when this is needed.

All students should attempt the work set for them, however;

  • If you find that your son/daughter is not able to follow the instructions or does not understand the work, we would be very happy for you to explain or adapt the work for them, if you feel confident to do so.

  • If you would like help or advice from the team to adapt or explain a task, please use the link below to contact the Learning and Hearing Support Teams. We will assign each request to a member of the team who will be in touch as soon as possible with help and guidance.

It is our priority that students with SEND are not disadvantaged in any way in these difficult circumstances and that their learning continues.
