A level/Applied Yr12 Bridging Tasks

Week 1 â€‹

What I will be learning about – Reading task….1 hour

What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week

Please search the internet, magazines, books or similar to find a story linked to Psychology and obedience that you can summarise in a short newsletter for the rest of the group which you will create on 1 side of A4 or in any format that you think will be easy to do and easy to read/see/learn from.

Week 2

What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week

Week 3 and Week 4

What I will be learning about – Essay (1 hour) and research (1 hour) task.

What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week

Freud is said to be the grandfather of psychotherapy. Explain and evaluate some of the key ideas that he suggested and say how this links to the counselling or therapy that people receive today. 12 marks

Week Beginning – 27th April to 18th May

​

What I will be learning about – Spend some time on simplypsychology.org (or similar) looking at the following topics creating a PowerPoint that you can use to revise….these must be sent to me for checking.

​

What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week

1. Psychology as a science focussing particularly on Wundt.

 

2. Behavioural Psychology particularly Pavlov and Skinner…make detailed notes. You need to understand definitions, principles and concepts (what is the same or different, how it can be applied, what are the strengths and weaknesses)…the concepts of reward, reinforcement and punishment are important here.

 

3. Biological Psychology focussing on genes, evolution and the impact of biology on being an individual. You need to understand definitions, principles and concepts (what is the same or different, how it can be applied, what are the strengths and weaknesses). Look up Diathesis Stress…this is an important concept.
