What I will be learning about -

Ensure all labels are complete and, if not done so already send work to your teachers.

 

All work that has been set over the last two terms will directly impact the amount of work that you need to do after the Summer holidays.

What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week - 

Check all information is present and that all work is checked for spelling and grammar.

What I will be learning about -

Unit 3- Personal Training

Using the link that is provided, complete the labels for the cardiovascular system (heart) and the respiratory system (lungs).

 

  • A diagram of the cardiovascular system that includes the atria, ventricles, aorta, vena cava, pulmonary artery, pulmonary vein.

  • A diagram of the respiratory system which includes the lungs, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli and diaphragm.

What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week - 

Ability to identify key anatomical elements of the body.

What I will be learning about -

Unit 3- Personal Training-

Using the link that is provided, complete the labels for the Muslces and Skeleton.

  • A labelled diagram that locates the major muscles (deltoid, biceps, triceps, pectoralis major, latissimus dorsi, external obliques, gluteus maximus, quadriceps, hamstrings, gastrocnemius and tibialis anterior).

 

  • A labelled diagram that locates the major bones (cranium, clavicle, scapula, ribs, sternum, humerus, radius, ulna, pelvis, femur, patella, tibia, fibula)

 

Using the information on Synovial fluids document. You need to read each section and re write this in your own words and then label the blank copy also found in the link provided.

What I will be learning about -

Using the information that you have collected, what does it tell you about the performance?

 

Identify 2 strengths and 2 areas of improvement, say why, how does it affect their performance in the team, how could they improve the areas of weakness. Give specific activities to improve these areas.

 

To be completed in Word Document format.

What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week - 

Be able to use data to identify strengths and weaknesses in performances and be able to give relevant ways to improve, explaining the effects of this on performance.

Week Beginning - 15th June

What I will be learning about -

Unit 2- Practical sport- Analysis  performance-

If you were analysing a sporting performance of a Badminton player and a netball player what sort of things might you need to look for when they are playing to make a judgement about what they are doing well and need to improve on? E.g. Completed successful passes, unsuccessful passes, interceptions completed etc.

 

Watch 5 minutes of each of the clips (links provided) and write down using the table (in link provided) what elements you need to think about to analyse the individual Badminton and Netball matches.

 

Once you have written these down, you need to choose a player that you want to analyse in each sport. Then you will need to count how many times they do the selected areas that you have written down.

 

This will be needed for next weeks work.

Understanding what needs to be observed when analysing performance. Being able to know how to improve performances.

What I will be learning about -

Continue to work on the Unit 2 powerpoint.

 

On a new slide write out the following Components of Fitness:

  • Aerobic endurance

  • Muscular endurance

  • Flexibility

  • Speed

  • Muscular strength

  • Body composition

 

You need to find out and write next to each:

  • The definition related to sport

  • How each of these components of fitness is needed in Netball and Badminton

Give a specific example in netball and Badminton of when it might be needed.

  • 6.2- session plans and review- Word Document

  • Unit 2- Netball and Badminton: Rules (including separate application sheet), regulations, scoring systems and officials. Skills, techniques and Tactics. – Powerpoint

 

If any of this has not been handed in, this must be complete by the end of this week and sent to your teachers.

Complete all bits of the unit 2 practical sport work. Ensure it is clear, well written, makes sense with correct grammar. Ask someone else to check through it.

Unit 2- Practical Sport

Find out about the officials of the sport. Who are they , how many, how do they communicate etc

Complete what tactics you could incorporate into the sports to help you to beat you opponents. Explain why and when you might use them.

You will need to work through the 8 rules of Netball and 8 rules of Badminton, describe what the issue is regarding the rules and what the outcome of the rule would be. Write in as much detail as possible.

What I will be learning about - 

Unit 2- Practical Sport

What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week

Continue research of Badminton and Netball to complete the scoring system section, skills and techniques sections.

 

Skills are things that you have to be able to do to be able to play the sport. E.g. Chest pass, shooting, bounce pass etc Explain when and why you would use these skills.

 

Techniques are how you do the specific skills e.g.

Chest push:

  • Ball should be released at chest height.

  • Fingers spread around the ball in W shape.

  • Elbows tucked in (no chicken wings)

  • Transfer weight forward and push the ball.

  • Extend and follow through with arms, wrists and fingers.

  • Path of ball should flat and fast

 

Do this for ALL skills identified. Pictures would be good to aid your written points.
