PE Dance - Year 10

Week Beginning - 8th June

What I will be learning about -

Task 2 practical continued with write up

This week you will need to start putting together a portfolio of the ballet movements you learnt last week – this will need to be written up and photograph’s added - creating a photo diary of all the different ballet positions that you have learnt.  This will need to accompany a detailed analysis of the feet positions, arm positions and any other movements that you can identify…. Plie, pirouette, arabesque, attitude, turn out, assemble, Grande Jete, Tour en l’air, adagio and any others you can identify – this may mean you have to do a little research but there are lots of useful sites out there to aid you on this.

What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week

You will need to get someone to take photos of you so you are able to illustrate these photo’s explaining what you are doing in the photo – again this will aid the evidence collection for the completion of this unit.

You can choose to display this in any format that you choose – power point presentation, word document or even a video diary if you choose – I will let you decide and remember be creative 😊

Week Beginning - 1st June

What I will be learning about -

Task 1 – Practical based activity

As our last focus would have been a Ballet piece we need to look at the basics of ballet.

What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week

The following YouTube videos will help you to learn the 5 basic ballet positions.

I suggested that you spend time researching, practicing and learning the positions so they are stored in your movement memory.

This can be done quickly and over several days to build up your knowledge of the ballet movements…. Take photo’s of yourself to show you in the different positions.

Week Beginning - 18th May

What I will be learning about -

Task 2 completion – filming routines

I would also like you to film yourself performing one of the routines (or both) that I have suggested above.  This will allow me to see (once we are back to college) how well you have progressed with the ballet elements.

Make sure you keep the outtakes too – this is all good evidence to show your progression.

What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week

you can do this in your garden, clear your living room or find a space big enough at home to do this (to the best of your ability).

Use your mobile phones and I know that they will have a video editing section that you can piece together your work.

This will need practice and perfection – rehearsals always take time.

Good luck

Week Beginning - 11th May

What I will be learning about -

Task 2 - basic ballet routines

please watch and choose one or both of the routines to copy (obviously I would have taught you a dance if we were in college ☹)

What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week

Both of these routines are using all the basic ballet positions of both the legs and arms you have been learning over the past few weeks (at home).

Week Beginning - 14th April, 20th April

What I will be learning about -

Task 1

Research the following choreographers: Merce Cunningham, Martha Graham, Christopher Bruce and Kurt Jooss.

You must write a detailed account which will have to include the following:

·         Dance style

·         Creative intention – theme, style, collaboration with other choreographers and influences.

·         Purpose – to educate, to inform, to entertain, to provoke, to challenge view points, to raise awareness, to celebrate.

·

Their Role, Responsibility and skills

·         Where they a dancer? How did they get into dance choreography?

·         What are they responsible for in their dance company or when they are choreographing – Performance, rehearsals, creating and devising, refining performance material, managing others.

You can present this work in any way you want – whether you hand write it, create posters, power point presentation or a word document – I do not mind as I don’t know what resources you have at home.

This needs to be completed by Friday 24th April – it will be classed as an extended piece of writing.  Make sure that you use plenty of detail, correct spellings and grammar.  I am happy to check work as you do it also – please email me/ take of photos of your work and email me so I can check over for you.

What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week
