Design an activity for elderly residents in a residential care home to get them talking to each other.
Week Beginning - 6th July
What I will be learning about - Time for a walk
What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week
Go for a local walk, with a phone/ camera, and take at least 7 pictures of things that represent health and/or communication. For example, at the GP or rainbows in windows. These photos should be presented as a collage and sent in once completed.
Remember – you should be safe and still socially distance on your walk.

What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week
Create a colourful resource for a 2 year old to encourage their speech, colours, numbers and recognition of familiar objects.
Examples of resources include:

Week Beginning - 22nd June
What I will be learning about - Communication board
What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week
Make a communication board for those with special needs. This should be A4 and have words and pictures for common needs and wants for a person who cannot speak.
Send in a photo of the completed board.
Week Beginning - 15th June
What I will be learning about - Make or bake
What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week
Make/ bake a cake OR a 3D model which demonstrates and incorporates communication. Use the knowledge you have learnt before half term on RO22 LO1 to help create your cakes or models.
Send in photos of the completed product.
Week Beginning - 1st June - 8th June
What I will be learning about - Lockdown poster
What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week
Lockdown poster Either: - Create a factual poster with statistics and news from the past few months (about COVID-19) on any country of your choice. OR - Create a poster that represents your experience of lockdown. Your poster can either be done electronically or on paper and include some images or graphs to support your points/ statistics.
Hi girls, Hope you all had a lovely Easter break and ready to get back to home learning. Because you are still at home, it is not possible to complete LO1 - assessing scenes of danger and identifying risks. Therefore, we will be moving onto RO22 LO1 – How to communicate effectively. Please see below the updated outline for what you should be doing for Health and Social Care at home until we return back to school. It is unsure how long schools will be closed for so it is important for you to keep up with your coursework because it will still go towards your final grade!!

On one side of A4 explain (in an essay) how all the work you have already done on communication (your posters and leaflets) apply to Trevor. Which of the skills will he and his care workers use and why? Then do the same for Skye. Write in full sentences with sensible paragraphs, good detail and remember all your skills from your English lessons. Your SPAG will be assessed.

What I will be learning about - Written, i.e: - Writing a care plan - Care report or instructions for medical procedure/ operational activity

Please make a handwritten leaflet OR write an essay to explain these skills. You must define non-verbal and each of the 3 examples. You should imagine the leaflet is for a trainee care worker and write it appropriately. You may add 2 drawings if you wish. What I will be learning about - Non-verbal, i.e: - Body language - Gestures - Facial expressions
What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week

Make a poster (in colour), not on a computer OR write an essay. You will need to look up each of the terms to the left and explain what they are on the poster. You will also need to say why specialist skills are used. You must include 2 examples from health and 2 from early years. You may add 2 drawings if you wish.

What I will be learning about - Verbal skills, i.e: - Clarity - Tone - Pace - Empathy - Paraverbal skills
What I will need to know or be able to do by the end of the week

You will also need to say why verbal skills are used. You must include 2 examples from health and 2 from early years. You may add 2 drawings if you wish.
